The Washington Redskins spend A LOT of time and money trying to play down the controversy that's inherent in their name ... or not.
A recent Twitter campaign, launched by the Redskins mind you, asked Redskins fans to tweet their "#RedskinsPride" to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to "tell him what the team means to you." This was in response to Reid who, along with 50 other senators, sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, urging him to force the Redskins to change their name.
You can imagine how this went. "Fans" showed their "#RedskinsPride", alright, with tweets filled with prideful words such as "racist", "dumb", and "#changethename".
Perk up, Redskins organization, the Twitter Fail Whale bellows for thee!
