Apple and U2 are giving the new album Songs of Innocence to over 500 million iTunes customers worldwide.
iTunes is giving something away for free? It isn't a single track from an up-and-coming artist that is hit or miss? Well then, the colder temps must be coming from hell freezing over.
From the Apple page promoting the release:
A big moment in music history. And you’re part of it. Apple and U2 are giving the new album Songs of Innocence to over 500 million iTunes customers worldwide. Never before have so many people owned one album, let alone on the day of its release.
Everyone with iTunes, iTunes Radio, the iOS Music app and Beats Music will 'own' the album. What a refreshing change of pace in the music industry! It makes me wish there was some sort of software package that would allow free sharing of music. Wouldn't that be great?
