L.A.-based Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC) tore into Madison's Barrymore Theatre last night and absolutely blew the lid off the joint.
Peter Hayes, Robert Levon Been, and Leah Shapiro, a relatively new force on the BRMC skins, are on tour promoting their new album, Specter At the Feast. The album is dedicated to Been's father, Michael Been, of The Call, who passed away in 2010.
The show kicked off with a cover of The Call's Let the Day Begin and ripped through about two hours of music, stretching across their catalog. The show was, at various points, slick, gritty, raw, and always LOUD. It's the third time I've seen them, and I'll be back.
An added bonus was the opener, thenewno2, fronted by Dhani Harrison, son of George who bears a striking resemblance to his dad. Great set from a promising band.
