It's hard to imagine that any artists during the 50's and 60's WEREN'T on acid, but one unidentified artist scored some free LSD courtesy of ol' Uncle Sam.
The government funded study took place at the University of California - Irvine where a psychiatrist asked the artist to drop acid and draw some shit ... all in the name of science, of course.
The results were about what you would expect. Early on, the drawings were straightforward, but as time wore on, the sketches got more and more ... well ... trippy.
The research started in 1954, lasted seven years, and consisted of over 100 professional artists and over 250 drawings. No mention of how much Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was procured.
